Kominfo’s Gross Negligence: The Silent Accomplice in Indonesia’s Data Theft Scandal!
Jayantara-News.com, Jakarta
The Alliance of Aktivis Anak Bangsa strongly condemns the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) for its blatant failure in protecting Indonesian citizens’ personal data. The rampant theft and misuse of National Identification Numbers (NIK) and Family Cards (KK) by individuals within prepaid card providers is undeniable proof of Kominfo’s incompetence and negligence in securing public data.
Field investigations by the Alliance of Aktivis Anak Bangsa reveal a systematic abuse of personal data allegedly involving mobile provider personnel and resellers. These bad actors exploit security loopholes to collect and misuse NIK and KK for unauthorized SIM card registrations. Alarmingly, evidence suggests that these leaks may originate from Kominfo’s flawed and vulnerable SMS Gateway (4444) registration system.
Kominfo Cannot Escape Accountability!
Dena Hadiyat, Secretary-General of the Alliance of Aktivis Anak Bangsa, delivers a firm statement:
“The theft of KK and NIK data by prepaid card providers is a direct consequence of Kominfo’s failure. They must be held accountable for this catastrophic data breach. Their negligence is putting millions of Indonesians at risk.”
Kominfo’s Total Failure in Protecting Public Data
As the authority responsible for digital infrastructure and data security, Kominfo’s Directorate General has utterly failed in its duty. Their weak system exposes sensitive data to hackers and data mafia networks. The SMS Gateway model lacks fundamental security protocols, creating a goldmine for cybercriminals. Instead of safeguarding the public, Kominfo’s incompetence has turned Indonesia into a playground for data thieves.
Our Demands: Immediate Action, No More Excuses!
The Alliance of Aktivis Anak Bangsa demands the following urgent measures:
1. Kominfo must take full responsibility for this national data security disaster.
2. An independent, comprehensive audit of the SIM card registration system and SMS Gateway must be conducted.
3. A full investigation into mobile providers and resellers involved in these illegal activities.
4. Law enforcement must crack down on all entities suspected of being part of the data mafia network.
5. An immediate overhaul of the SIM card registration system with secure, transparent, and accountable technology.
Enough is enough! Turning a blind eye to this crisis is nothing less than a betrayal of the Indonesian people. If Kominfo refuses to act, we will escalate our response—through mass protests, legal action, and unrelenting public pressure. (Goes)
